2014 Topsfield Fair Annual 5K Walk/Run Race
The third annual Topsfield Fair Road Race was held on Sunday, September 28, 2014. This yearly race, held on the Sunday before the Topsfield Fair begins, benefits the Essex Agricultural Society College Scholarship Fund. The Fund helps high school seniors with the rising cost of a college education. The race is open to runners and walkers and gives them a chance to run or walk along the fairgrounds and around a scenic route in Topsfield.
It was a beautiful day for the race and the turnout was great. Bob, his wife, Suzanne, and his daughter, Kailey, all took part in this year’s race. Topsfield native, Abbey D’Agostino, also participated. Abbey, a recent Dartmouth College graduate, is beginning a professional running career with New Balance and has begun competing against top runners around the world.
The Topsfield Fair does a great job organizing the race and each year after the race, food and beverages are offered to all participants.
If you would like to participate, but are not an avid walker or runner, you could volunteer at the race or be a sponsor. Bob has been a proud sponsor of the road race since it began in 2012. For more information about the race, including registration, check out the Topsfield fair website.
